Ciara Riordan is an award winning multi-media broadcast journalist with twelve years of experience in news and programme-making. Ciara has worked as a producer, reporter and presenter in radio and television in Ireland, the UK and Australia. She has worked for a number of leading organisations including BBC, ABC Australia, RTE, LBC, Newstalk radio and Radio Kerry.
She is currently a broadcast journalist and the social media producer on BBC Breakfast television in the UK. BBC Breakfast is the biggest breakfast programme in the United Kingdom with over 7 million viewers a day. As social media producer, Ciara is at the cutting edge of digital media. Her role includes managing and creating innovate content for BBC Breakfast’s online platforms.
Previous to this, Ciara was producing, reporting and presenting on BBC World News in London with a weekly audience of 70 million.
Her previous positions have seen her travel to countries such as Haiti, Italy and South Africa. Ciara was in Haiti for the aftermath of the earthquake in January 2011 for the NGO Haven. She was at the Pope’s conclave in Rome for BBC World News television and she also made a radio documentary about the poorest townships in Capetown, South Africa for Newstalk fm.
Ciara has an honours degree in Audio and Visual communications. Her passions include salsa dancing, travelling and even more travelling!
