A graduate of the ENS and ENA with a doctorate in political science, Agathe Cagé is now president of the consulting agency Compass Label (which accompanies business executives and public decision-makers). Her recent essay, Breaking Down the Walls Between Intellectuals and Politicians, was inspired by her experience both as a researcher and as a political adviser (she was the general secretary of French presidential candidate Benoît Hamon’s campaign in 2017). She speaks in favor of a rapprochement between intellectuals and politicians, especially on the left side of the political spectrum. Cagé believes this is the only way we can provide substantial and concrete answers to the multiple crises affecting our democracies today. She calls for a fresh start, where politicians, intellectuals and ordinary citizens alike can begin to think together about progress and social justice.
