Luc Barruet is the prominent founder of the HIV/AIDS association Solidarité Sida and of the music festival Solidays, which is turning 20 this year. By betting, two decades ago, that one could “make noise against AIDS” by organizing each year an eclectic and socially-minded musical festival on the Longchamp racecourse, Luc Barruet showed that change was possible — with a lot of good will and some good ideas. In spite of occasional difficulties, Solidays is today a can’t-miss event, which brings necessary resources to the fight against the expansion of the epidemic, and for the search of more effective treatments. With 37 million people currently living with HIV/AIDS in the world, Solidarité Sida (present in 30 countries) seems more necessary than ever. Luc Barruet will introduce us to the most pressing issues of this crucial battle.
