Emancipating yourself — yes, but how? Some age-old struggles have taken on new forms, as is the case with feminism, a movement within which seemingly irreconcilable visions clash.
This is what Alice Coffin writes about in her book, Le Génie Lesbien, published in 2020 by Grasset Editions. As a member of the Paris city council (EELV), she is focusing on gender equality and the fight against discrimination, representing the 12th arrondissement of the capital. She has put the emancipation of LGBT and feminist minorities at the heart of her work — as a journalist for cultural and media outlets, but also as the co-founder of Lesbiennes d’Intérêt Général, the first lesbian and feminist endowment fund, as well as in her role as founder of the LGBTI Journalists Association and of the OUT d’Or ceremony. She is also a member of the European Lesbian Conference and the feminist collective La Barbe.
