Diariata N’Diaye, a self-described “artivist” (a portmanteau of “artist” and “activist”), was awarded France’s National Order of Merit at the age of 34 for her accomplishments and her unwavering commitment to raising awareness around violence against girls and women. In 2008, with her rap band Dialem, she created the spoken poetry show “Mots pour Maux”. In 2015, she founded the association Resonantes, specialized in helping and guiding young people aged 15-25. Diariata N’Diaye went on to launch App-Elles, the first mobile application for victims of gender-based and sexual violence. App-Elles also has its own connected wristband, capable of sending alerts in case of violence, which was granted the “Tech for A Better World” Innovation Award at the prestigious CES tech fair in Las Vegas.
