Huang Yong Ping

Artist Val d’Isère 2018

A major figure in the Chinese avant-garde, founder of the Xiamen Dada movement in 1986, Huang Yong Ping was revealed on the international scene during the “Magiciens de la Terre” exhibition in 1989 in Paris.

At the crossroads of East and West, his installations and sculptures combine Buddhist and Taoist symbols, Christian references to the history of Western art and philosophy. Often using live or stuffed animals, his works are allegories about life in society, the future and the hybridization of identities.
