“Authentic” and “innovative” are both words that describe Joanna Goodale. The Franco-Swiss pianist of British-Turkish origin is a cosmopolitan artist who has managed to break down barriers between classical repertoires and world music. With a rare sensitivity, she was able in her first album Bach in a Circle (released in 2019 on the Paraty label) to combine Bach’s music with the rhythms of Turkish and Sufi folklore. Through her collaborations, she has also transcended the boundaries of art by multiplying multidisciplinary projects and exploring new sounds. Plato wrote “if you want to know a people, you have to listen to their music”: Joanna Goodale will therefore invite us to listen to our humanity in a different way. Learning how to listen in unison — now that’s an invitation for a beautiful journey together.
