Founder and President of the Luma Foundation and Luma Arles for more than 30 years, Maja Hoffman has been committed to the production of ambitious projects involving art, human rights, education and the environment, by supporting numerous international cultural initiatives. As she is deeply attached to Arles, where she grew up, she chose the city to develop Luma Arles with the support of a core group of advisors and experts (Tom Eccles, Liam Gillick, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Philippe Parreno and Beatrix Ruf) as well as Frank Gehry, Annabelle Selldorf and Bas Smets. She also works with initiatives in the area, including the Rencontres d’Arles and the festival des Suds.
She sits as Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Institute in New York and the Vincent van Gogh Foundation in Arles; she is a member of the boards of directors of Tate in London, Kunsthalle Zürich in Switzerland, the New Museum and CCS Bard in New York.
