Omar Benlaâla

Omar Benlaâla was born in Ménilmontant (Paris) in 1974, into a family of Algerian immigrants. Early school dropout, he wandered for several years, before posting a short autobiographical story on the website Raconter la vie. The publishers of the eponymous collection then suggested that he write a book about it: La Barbe appeared at Seuil a year later, on January 15, 2015. L’Effraction, his first novel, was published in August 2016, by Editions de l’Aube. In 2018, it was Flammarion that welcomed my third book, Tu n’habiteras jamais Paris, awarded in 2019 with the Prix littéraire de la Porte Dorée.
